Forest School
At Trinity Primary School children have regular weekly visits to Forest School to stimulate curiosity, motivation and desire to learn through hands on learning experience. Through a wide range of activities children develop holistically becoming resilient, independent and creative learners that can problem solve and have a deeper understanding and relationship with the natural environment. They are supported to manage risk which is appropriate to their age, make their own choices and initiate their own learning.
Forest School is run by two qualified Forest School practitioners, Mrs Seale and Mrs Haggerty who, continuously develop their own professional practice.
Forest School Intent
The philosophy of Forest School is to inspire individuals of any age through positive outdoor experiences and provide them an opportunity to appreciate the wider, natural world to encourage a responsibility for nature conservation in later life.
Forest School Aims
The school provide children with waterproofs so that they can fully immerse themselves in the outdoor experience. Some of the children’s favourite pleasures are jumping in muddy puddles and exploring the mud kitchen. We encourage our children to stay healthy both mentally and physically therefore we encourage them to keep active through a range of team building games and activities.
Forest School provides children with an opportunity to learn in a different way. Some children prefer being practical and the outdoor environment lends itself beautifully to this. Some children like the sensory aspects the natural environment provides.
