Swallows Class
A huge welcome to Year 1 at Trinity.
In Year 1 we aim to provide a seamless transition into the National Curriculum. As the children build on the Early Learning Goals, we begin to sharpen up skills and focus on key areas of learning from the National curriculum in a rich play based cross curricular environment .
We introduce half termly topics to loosely base and theme learning around. Our current topic 'Let's visit Kenya' poses the question "where do other people live in the world?" We will explore Geography as a focus. We continue to base learning around the characteristics of effective learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum .
In the course of the day there is both timetabled learning and opportunities for children to decide how to show their learning through exploration and play. Specialist teachers in Music, Physical Education and Forest School teach alongside the class teacher to provide a broad and balanced approach to learning. We are a very happy place to learn.
We look forward to all the learning and experience we have planned throughout the year.
Many Thanks
Year 1 Team
