The Year 2 Team
Year 2 Teacher
I have been teaching for around 18 years at a primary school in Crediton. I have had a wonderful time at this school but now feel the time is right to use my experiences in a different setting. I love seeing young people grow in confidence and ask questions about world they are growing up in. Helping foster a love of learning is one of my main aims as a child’s teacher and I look forward to building on the already excellent practice I have seen at Trinity. I have three girls of my own aged 10,14 and 16 and my wife is a local artist. I love to play the drums, build things (in school and outside of it!) and being part of the charity, Park Life Heavitree. I have been known to get involved in the odd wild camp and wild swim when possible too and also am part of Exeter Network church family.

I studied Early Childhood Studies at University and completed my PGCE with Early Years specialism because I am really passionate about this stage of child development and learning. As a Year 1 class teacher I have thoroughly enjoyed having a play-based curriculum in KS1 and centering it around the children. I find that this is how children learn best. Outside of school I am a very active person. I live near the beach so I love surfing, swimming or being outside lots.

I have two beautiful boys aged 13 and 15 and as a family we enjoy the outdoors such as camping, kayaking, paddle boarding and being by the sea. I have provided P.E support to the children and staff at Trinity School since December 2017. Working with the children from the beginning of their school years is enabling us to teach them the Fundamentals of movement and ball skills and establish the foundations for a wide range of sporting and activity based interests. I am a sporting 'all-rounder' and was trained as a P.E teacher at University and although I did not take this path for the early part of my career I am now a Level 2 cricket coach, Level 1 rugby and tennis and a full time sports and P.E coach
I have been teaching for 20 years and been delivering Primary Physical Education for over 12 years and I specialised with early years physical literacy. I have a true belief that Physical Activity should be fun and pupil centred and have a focus on personal development. As well as working at Trinity I work at St Luke’s Science and Sports College, Youth Sport Trust and I am a primary PE consultant across Devon. I have a real belief that active children develop in to healthy, confident and social young people.
