Year 1 at Trinity aims to provide a happy and seamless transition into the National Curriculum.
As children build on the Early Learning Goals we begin to sharpen up skills and focus on key areas of learning but in a rich cross curricular way.
We introduce half termly topics to loosely base and theme learning around. Our first topic is “Who eats who?” and we began with a visit to the zoo to kick start the children’s interests. Writing and research is based around the topic but the way we talk about learning is still heavily based around the characteristics of effective learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage.
In the course of the day there is both timetabled learning and opportunity for children to decide how to show their learning through exploration and play. Specialist teachers in Music and Physical Education teach alongside the class teacher to provide a broad and balanced approach to learning. We are a very happy place to learn.
The children will be planning, cooking and hosting a party for Grandparents on November 21st at 2.15pm.
In the past, some children have not been able to have a grandparent there so have invited a neighbour or family friend.
